Birthday Redo

Image
My mom's 70th birthday was Saturday. She has wanted this painting since I did the series in December 2014. At that point i had only been painting 5.5m. 3 yrs later and a little more skill under my belt and according to my kids, the original is better. Happy Birthday Mom.

Painting - the Sharing Bear

This is a new concept I'm working on. The painting within the painting.

Paint Nite with friends.

Image
Tamara, Julia and I went out for a nice dinner at Roos and a Paint Nite last Monday. It was a really nice time even if I'm not totally happy with results. Then I made changes... Still not happy. 😣

Charging Station Creation

Image
Let us get rid of all those wires   We have so much technology around these days that there is a charger in every room, in every outlet and the kids still fight over chargers. I want all their technology in one place and everyone to have their own charger and own spot to charge. This is what I came up with.

Final Day - Paint Nite Revisited - Snow Trees

Image
Final Day of Creativity Challenge So my birthday weekend was really nice.  I didn't think anyone would come to share my freedom so I booked myself into a Paint Nite near my hotel to eat up some of the time. I didn't exactly like the painting but I think it turned out pretty good considering.  I learned that as an artist I can see the changes that need to made to make a painting make sense. I find Paint Nite very simple and one dimensional. It is the little additions that make the difference between an OK painting and a good painting and sometimes even a great painting. I don't know where that comes from.  I would say good.

Day 9 - 12, 16 - 18 - Reflection

Image
This one might take awhile because I don't seem to have as much time as I thought I did. Day 17-18 Its done. I'm really happy with it. It's an unusual painting for me. You have to close to see how beautiful it really is. Day 16 I'm never going to finish this. Argh! Day 11-12 Base is done, Day 9 and 10 I have chosen an idea and sketched it out. It's my first time working on humanish faces and exact reflections.

Day 15 - Family Speed

Image
Day 15 Family day was a total write off in the ART department but like I said creativity is sometimes just about being creative.  Husband was working so 3 kids home when everyone else is busy with family. I was creative at keeping my 7 yr old engaged and learning to read. I was creative in challenging my 12 yr old to make her own decisions when it comes to making gifts for her friends for Valentines day. And I was super duper creative in helping my 9 yr old prepare for the Kub Kar races. I totally geeked out and probably was more interested than he was because he sure disappeared fast when technology time hit and I was still trying to get it to run on all 4 wheels. I found out today that that is not so important.

Day 13-14 - Keeping Friendship Warm

Image
Creativity is not only painting but creating. My friend's birthday fell this weekend and she mentioned she liked my son's crocheted toque. I got this wonderful yarn and went to town after I finished my current dishcloth. I always seem to have one of those going. Day 13-14

Dayso 4 - 8 - Washed Away and Cakes

Image
Day 4 So this has been a very trying day. I had 3 kids worth of activities I had to deal with and throw in a couple bonus kid activities that all fall at the same time and then cupcake #3 goes and throws a huge wrench in the works. Needless to say not much time to create. I still got in 2 hrs so I started this and hope to finish it tomorrow but have decided to take cupcake #3 to the child and youth mental health intake drop in tomorrow so maybe not. We will see. Day 5 Messed up Day 6 I didn't any pictures but I made 3 cakes for my little guys school carnival cake walk. Day 7 Worked on the painting but didn't photograph because I was so frustrated. Bad day! Day 8 Finally finished but I must say the water was very difficult. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Day 2 and 3 - Spirit

Image
So I may have bit off  more than I can chew with this quest. Especially with kids home on a pro-d. Started this today and will fix it tomorrow because something about it bugs me. Day 2 Day 3

A painting a day - Inspiration.

I have recently given up volunteering for an organization that bullied me, threatened me and accused me of things I didn't do.  The stress it caused, caused my condition to get so bad, that honestly, i didnt know if i would make it to New Years. This has freed up my time and mind and spirit and I'm still here and doing better. To discover what makes me happy and more about myself, I am going to try and paint or do something creative everyday till my birthday.  But I am a mom of 3 so lets see how it goes. Lets get started with Day 1 -

For the woman that inspired the artist in me.

My counselor recently moved to Kelowna. She has been amazing and taught me so much. On my last meeting I realized I had never done a painting for her. I got up that morning and had this done by 1pm when I had my last appointment.  I am so sorry to see her go. Thank you Patti.

Mommy and Me days vs Daddy and Me days.

Image
Each year my husband takes each of the kids on a Daddy and me day. This year it was Wyatt to a Canadians game, Jack to the Planetarium and Mady and he hiked the Chief. On those days I 'helped' Wyatt make a Newton's cradle, juggling balls and a beer bottle cap mobile. On Jack's craft day we made survival bracelets. All while Mady crafted things to decorate her room to go with her new bedding. That's how I do Mommy and me days. Enrich the children while feeding my addiction, I mean interests, 😋.

Two weeks on the road with no creativity, in 5 days I went on overload. I made a dreamcatcher mobile, crocheted a dish cloth, survival bracelet and made a sweater clip. I also "helped" Wyatt make a newtons cradle, 3 juggling balls, 6 ft of his corking blanket and a beer bottle cap mobile. Assisted Jack and Mady with their crafts. Busy week.

Our Road Trip 2016

Image
This summer we decided to take the whole family on a 2 week roadtrip from our home to West Edmonton Mall and back. We left here and headed to Osoyoos, BC for 2 nights I think we spent the 2 days in the worst weather that Osoyoos had all summer. Super windy and rainy. The hotel was subpar and the beach was lovely.     On our way to Revelstoke, BC we stopped in Enderby, BC and we found this amazing place called Log Cabin 1912. One of the best parts for the whole trip.    Revelstoke was amazingly beautiful. We stayed at Base Camp and it was nice and homey. The family was sad to leave. On our day we went geocaching and to the Revelstoke Dam and Visitor's Centre. Colin and Jack really enjoyed it. We left Revelstoke for a very long day to Drumheller, AB through Banff National Park, AB.  Too commercial for me. We arrived in Drumheller, AB. So many mosquitoes!    We went to the Royal Tyrell Museum. Jac...
